摘要:Signal processing method and apparatus are disclosed for detecting a signalhaving the form of a sine wave or its segment in the presence of noise or otherinterference. A received segment is processed to calculate two measures, namely ameasure of the mean level of the signal and a measure of the concordance of a zero-
crossing pattern of the received segment with a uniform pattern exhibited by a sinusoidalwaveform having a frequency equal to the centre frequency of the signal. The calculatedvalues of these two measures are used to define a point in a plane having axescorresponding to the measures. The position of the point is compared with a two-dimensional decision boundary in the plane which separates a region of the planerepresenting noise and a region of the plane representing noise plus a sinusoidal
waveform. Based on the position of the point relative to the boundary, a decision is madewhether the received signal contains noise alone or noise and a sinusoidal waveform.
