Agricultural processing industries

In the past 20 years, the processing of agricultural products has been promoting the development of china’s agriculture, and it made farmers rich. （Over the past two decades, the agricultural

processing industry has been the engine fueling the development of Chinese agriculture and filling farmers’ wallets.）

During years of reform and opening ups, especially the last five years of 1990s, Agricultural processing become more and more important in national economy. （The importance of agricultural

processing in the national economy had been steadily rising during the reform yeas, typically the last five years of the 20the century.）

National Statistics shows that the processing of agricultural products has become the most active industry and its growth rate has been fist in national economy.（According to figures released by

the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the farm products processing industry has become the most dynamic industry with a growth rate topping all industries in the national economy.）

In the past 10 years, the Annual growth of agricultural processing was 92% which was higher than the growth of current national economy. What’s more, the added value of agricultural processing industries has increased to 84.6%.（In the last 10 yeas,

its average annual growth reached 9.2%, higher than the current growth of the national economy and the value added by this industry hit 84.6 percent.）

OuXinQian, the state economic and trade commission vice director said that the high-speed development of agricultural processing industries has promoted china’s agricultural market and the overall progress of agriculture. He also said, the dramatic progress of this industry is the great power to promote the development of national economy.（Ou Xinqian, vice-minister of

the State Economic and Trade Commission, said the fast growth of the agricultural processing industry had boosted the market for Chinese agricultural products, and promoted the upgrade of agriculture generally. He added that the huge leaps in the industry created the power to propel the national economy.）

Meanwhile, agricultural products have brought more incomes to Chinese farmer. More and more township and village enterprises

are establishing a relationship of benefit sharing with the local farmer. And this relationship is not only ensuring profit margins but also lower the risks of agricultural producers.（Processing farm

products also brings Chinese farmers better incomes. More and more township enterprises are gorging a relationship that shares benefits with local farmers, which ensures business profits and also cuts risks for agricultural producers.）

So far, agricultural processing industries have created over 1500 millions employment opportunities for the national farmers.（So far, the agricultural processing industry has created

more than 15 million job opportunities for Chinese farmers throughout the country.）

At the same time, the industry also accelerates the structural rearrangement of china’s agriculture.（The industry is also

speeding up the restructuring of Chinese agriculture.）

DoQinLin, china's agriculture minister pointed out that the aim of Chinese government is to built a safe and reliable agricultural products supplied, processing industrial, quality controlling and safe,

technology innovative system and a political support system which is correspond to the WTO regulars. （ quality control and safety,

a system of technical innovations and Minister of Agriculture, Du, Qinglin, revealed government targets for setting up a secured system for farm products supply, a system of processing industries, a system of qa system of policy support to conform with WTO rules.）

Do minister side that china must expand agricultural reform and structural rearrangement of the rural economy by these five systems. Du said China had to rely on these five systems to

broaden agricultural reforms and economic restructuring in rural areas.

Depending on the analysis of the chief of agriculture bureau for township enterprises, LiuZengSheng that to build up the above five systems will help to change the grim situation which china has faced after entering WTO and improve the competition of China’s agricultural productions.（According to the analysis drawn by

Liu Zengsheng, director of the Bureau of Township Enterprises of the Ministry of Agriculture, setting up the above five systems will gradually help change the severe situation facing Chinese agriculture after the WTO entry

and will increase the competitiveness of Chinese farm products.）

We believe that until 2005, agricultural processing industries will play a more important role in national economy. With the constant majorization of regional resources, china must be able to join the international competition with the new energy.

We are confident that, by the year 2005, farm product processing will play a more vital role in the national economy and with the continuous optimizing of regional resources, China is sure to participate in international competition with new vigor.
