1. Ask students \"what can we do on the weekend?\" and invite several students to write their answers on the blackboard.

2. Let students have pair works about weekend activities and ask several groups to act their conversations out.For example:

S1: What do you usually do on weekends?

(1) Show the pictures in 1a on the screen to the class. (2) Ask students what can they see in these pictures.

(3) Let students make up five conversations according to the five pictures. (4) Invite five pairs of students to act out their conversations. 2. Teach activity 1b

(1) Guide students to read the six adverbs of frequency in 1b. (2) Explain the six words to students.

Words: always (100%), usually(80%), often (30-50%), sometimes (20%) hardly ever(5%), never (0%).

(3) Play the recording for the first time and ask students to try to write the activities next to the correct frequency words.

(4) Invite several students to read their answers.

(5) Play the recording for the second time and let students check their answers. (6) Check the correct answers to the whole class. 3. Teach activity 1c

(1) Lead students to read the conversation in the box in 1c. And then ask two students to read it. (2) Ask students to work with their own partner and make up conversations of the pictures. For example:

— What does she do on weekends? — She often goes shopping. — Does she watch TV?

— No, she never watches TV.

(3) Give students about fifteen minutes to do this practice. Move around and give help to them while they are making conversations.

(4) Ask several pairs to act out their conversations. Step3: Practice

1. Teach activity 2a&2b

(1) Explain some language points of the example conversation: — How often do you watch TV? — Twice a week.

(2) Ask several students to answer how often do they watch TV? Then tell them that watching TV too much is bad for our health.

(3) Play the recording for the first time and ask students to number the activities 1-5 in the order they hear.

(4) Check answers to the whole class.

(5) Ask students to read activities and phrases of frequency in the box of 2a. Play the recording for the second time and let students match the activities in 2a with how often Cheng Tao does them. (6) Ask several students to read their answers and check the correct answers to the whole class. 2. Teach activity 2c

(1) First, ask one student to read the activities in 2c: watch TV; use the Internet; read English books; go to the movies; exercise.

(2) Ask students to work with their partners and fill in the blanks. Give them about 5 minutes to

ask and answer freely. Move around and give some help while students are having conversations. (3) Invite two pairs to act out their conversations. For example: — How often do you watch TV? — I watch TV every day.
