Do you know how to play a game called “Musical Chairs”? It is easy to play and most people enjoy it. All you need are some chairs, some people and some way of making music. You may use a piano or any other musical instrument, if someone can play it. You may use a tape recorder. You can even use a radio.

Put the chairs in a row. The chairs may be put in twos, back to back. A better way is to have the chairs in one row with each chair facing in the opposite direction to the chair next to it. The game is easy. When the music starts, the players walk round the chairs. Everyone goes in the same direction, of course, they should walk in time to the music. If the music is fast they should walk quickly. If the music is slow, they should walk slowly.

The person playing music cannot see the people in the game. When the music stops, the players try to sit on the chairs. If a person cannot find a chair to sit on, he drops out. Then, before the music starts again, one chair must be taken away. When the music stops again, one more player will be out.

At last, there will be two players and one chair. The one who sits on the chair when the music stops is the winner.

All she knew was that he was very sick and they had no money可知答案。 7. Only a miracle can save him now,小女孩听了之后便翻出她所有的“积蓄”去药店购买miracle,由此可见,小女孩可能认为miracle是一种什么很神奇的药。 Only a miracle can save him now的意思是“只有出现奇迹才可能救得了他” 8.

11. 选B。从句子It is important to know the ways you can use and show them to everyone in the family,…可知,当房子着火后,最重要的是你要知道the ways to escape the fire(逃生方式),故答案选B。

12. 选C。在短文的第2段说到…from the lower floor s of building escaping through windows is possible。故选C。

14. 选A。在短文的第5段提到了可…keep your head low at the window to be sure you get fresh air…可知。

16. 选A。 If a person cannot find a chair to sit on, he drops out.

18. 选D。 Put the chairs in a row就是“把椅子排成一排”这意。选D。

When the music starts, the players walk round the chairs.

It is easy to play 可知道A项正确;由最后一句The one who sits on the chair when the music stops is the winner. The person playing music cannot see the people in the game可知D项也是正确的。

24.C。do a lot of jobs

28.C。make作使役动词时,后面应接不定式的复合结构,且不定式省去to,即make sb. do sth.,故选择make。

29.C。draw

31.A。 32.D。固定结构make use of意思为“利用”。

33.C。 35.A。固定结构with the help of意思为“在……

36.having 37.others 38 .for 39.amusement 40.which 41.most 42.parks 43.traditional 44.If 45.is V.

I am sorry to hear that you have failed in the English contest. And I am also upset to hear that you are so depressed that you haven’t talked to anyone for two days.

I can understand what you are feeling now. It is rather disappointing to fail in an important contest just by one point. But one failure doesn’t mean that you are not excellent. There are more contests to come in the future. He who laughs last laughs longest.

It is time for you to turn sadness into strength. You can make use of this chance to improve your English. Look back, and you can learn a lot from your mistakes; look forward, and you will find a bright tomorrow before you. I will be glad to help you and let’s study together! Yours sincerely LiMing
