My view on competition and cooperation
Ladies and Gentlemen, good morning！
It is my pleasure to share my view on competition and cooperation here in the English speech contest.
To some extent，competition is one of the motive forces of the development of both the nature and our society. It is competition that eliminates the weak species and strengthens the stronger ones. It is competition that makes people energetic, creative and productive.
It has been a long time before we obtained the membership of the World Trade Organization and we have suffered a lot from the so-called planned economy. There was little competition at that time. Neither farmers nor workers worked hard enough to achieve better results and higher efficiency. This situation badly unfavored people’s lives and work condition. It is not until lately that we were enrolled in the WTO and opened our domestic market to the international businesses. It is competition that can stimulate individuals and organizations to try their best to meet the increasing high standards, which benefits all of us with the qualified and convenient life.
While we are advocating competition，we can't forget the function of cooperation. Actually, in most cases，we can't even to have the opportunity to take part in competition without cooperation. Take a football team for example. During
the game, one team is competing against the other for the football trophy, but each member of the team must cooperate with his teammates. Otherwise, they would lose the game no matter how skillful each individual player might be. To take another example, when one is beginning his or her new job in a multinational corporation, a guide book called job description will be presented to the green hand. Only when everybody knows about his or her duty very well and then endeavors to do his or her part to finish the cooperation during the corporation can we run a company with high efficiency and less frustration.
In conclusion, we are not likely to go far without cooperation with our fellow teammates, and we are not likely to go fast without competition against our fellow competitors.
