1) Yes, it is important for one to plan his future early. Early planning makes it possible for a person to work toward his life goals and achieve success more efficiently. In this way, he can avoid waste of time and energy on things that will contribute little to the realization of his life goals.
No, it is absolutely unnecessary for one to plan his future early. We all know from experience that any plan is likely to change, no matter how carefully made it may have been. Nobody can foresee the future, and hence it is a mere wishful thought that early planning will end in success. I think a better thing for one to do is to make the best plan based on the situation
he is faced with at the moment, rather than draw unrealistic plans before he even has any idea about what will happen in the future.
2) I'd like to be a bio-medical scientist in the future. I am studying for my bachelor's degree in biology right now, and I keep myself updated about the latest developments in the field. I am particularly interested in how advances in biology can help human beings solve medical problems. I believe this is a meaningful career to pursue because I can contribute to the welfare of the human race. Reading comprehension Reading comprehension-1
1) The author first met Henry at an adult education seminar he once gave at New York University. 2) He considered Henry an unusual person because Henry didn't fit the regular image of an \"animal person\". His clothes were untidy, his hair uncombed, and his language quite open and direct.
3) He helped to bring about the permanent closedown of a laboratory which did experiments with poisonous vapor on rabbits.
4) He persuaded the company to put $750,000 into the search for alternative ways to test their products. 5) Because these corporations have seen the boycott that Revlon had almost got involved in and they were afraid that they might trigger similar anger from animal rights activists.
6) He was efficient at planning and organizing campaigns. For example, he carried out public awareness campaigns, shaped lawsuits to sue large companies for malpractice, and built committed groups of supporters.
7) He didn't show any sign of depression, and he refused to hear the author's sympathy and condolences.
8) He could be satisfied with his achievements when looking back at life, and to be able to accept death calmly.
Reading comprehension-2
1) Yes, I agree completely that Henry's life is meaningful. My reasons are:
He helped make the world better by reducing the suffering of animals.
He did what he was interested in and achieved great success.
No, I don't think Henry's life is meaningful. This is because:
Marriage and family are essential in life, but Henry never had these.
A proper amount of entertainment can keep us healthy and enable us to work efficiently, but Henry spent very little time on relaxation and leisure. 2) Being able to pursue one's dream freely. Meeting challenges bravely even if the efforts end in failure.
Having a happy family.
Doing something that makes the world better. 3) Yes, I think that the animal rights movement is necessary. My reasons are:
It can arouse human beings' awareness of animals' suffering.
Animals, like human beings, should also be respected and treated with friendliness.
No, I don't think the animal rights movement is necessary. This is because:
It ignores the human need to provide food, e.g. meat and milk, for an increasing world population. It ignores the necessity of inventing new drugs and treatments to improve human health. 4) A good career. A happy family.
Freedom: to have the freedom to pursue what I am really interested in with no need to worry about money and other people's opinions.
5) I once watched a documentary on TV about a man who gave up a good job in a big city and went to teach in a mountainous region of China. I think what he did is worthwhile. Though it seems that he may not earn much money, he can use his knowledge and experience to change many children's lives.
I once watched a TV report about a man who gave up a decent job in a big city and went to teach in a mountainous region of China. I personally don't think it is worthwhile for him to do so because of two reasons. First, I think he probably can give greater help to the students in mountainous regions if he earns a high salary in a big city and donates some money to schools in those areas. In this way, his efforts can benefit more students. Second, he should fulfill his own family responsibilities, for example, taking care of his parents, before he pursues his own passion. If he lives far away from home and earns only a little amount of money by teaching in a remote poor region, it will be hard for him to care for his parents, either physically or financially. Based on these two considerations, I feel what he did is not worthwhile.

参考:Everyone has been taught to be honest since childhood. As to cheating in exams, it is certainly something we should never do. Even though I have learned this since an early age, I come to realize its importance from an experience of one of my classmates.
One day before last term's mathematics final exam, I met Jerry, one of my classmates. When I asked him whether he was ready for the exam, he looked very anxious and upset. We wished each other good luck and then bid goodbye. However, to my astonishment, he was caught cheating during the exam. It seemed that he made some notes and brought them to the classroom. While he was reading through them, he was caught by the teacher.
I had thought the most serious punishment he could get would be a failure in the exam. However, a week later, we learned that Jerry had been suspended from
school. Some of us thought that the school was too strict with him. But on second thought, we got to understand that cheating in an exam violates the Code of Academic Honesty. A person who commits this will not be trusted by others.
Jerry might have thought that he could escape from being caught in the exam. But the result was that he paid a big price for cheating. I don't know where Jerry is now, but I really wish that he learns a lesson from this experience and never does similar things again. What happened to him also made me understand that we should get what we want through honest and true efforts rather than by immoral means. 8-5 Translation Translation Translation-1

Instead of confining themselves to the knowledge in books, more and more college students are stepping out of the \"Ivory Tower\" and taking an active part in social practice in their spare time. Through social practice, college students can have a deeper understanding of society,

responsibility, and improve their analytical and
problem-solving abilities. Meanwhile, taking part in social practice can also help students recognize their own shortcomings and have a clear idea about where they are to go in the future. All these benefits will help them build up social and work experience, which will lay a solid foundation for them in finding jobs or starting their own businesses in the future. Section B
