摘要：A vehicle exterior environment recognition apparatus includes a road surfaceidentifying unit, a three-dimensional object identifying unit, a road surface determiningunit, and a three-dimensional object composition unit. The road surface identifying unit
identifies a road surface in an image. The three-dimensional object identifying unitidentifies three-dimensional objects each having a height extending vertically upwardfrom the identified road surface. When the identified three-dimensional objects areseparated and are located at respective positions distant from an own vehicle by a samerelative distance, the road surface determining unit performs a determination of whethera three-dimensional-object-intervening region between the identified three-dimensionalobjects has a correspondence to the road surface. When the three-dimensional-object-intervening region is determined to have no correspondence to the road surface, thethree-dimensional object composition unit regards the identified three-dimensionalobjects separated from each other as candidate parts of a unified three-dimensionalobject.
