摘要：The invention relates to a device (10) for treating tobacco, in particular cuttobacco, comprising a rotatable drum element (12). The drum element (12) has anintroduction side (11) having an introduction opening for introducing tobacco into theinterior of the drum element and a discharge side (13) having a discharge opening fordischarging tobacco from the interior of the drum element. In particular in the conveyingdirection of the tobacco in the interior of the drum, a loosening zone is formed betweenthe introduction opening and a treatment zone. Preferably compacted tobacco materialis loosened in the loosening zone, and the loosened tobacco can be treated in asubsequent treatment zone in the conveying direction. In particular in the looseningzone, a means for introducing steam is provided. An embodiment of the device ischaracterized in that recirculated air return lines (22, 24) arranged outside the drumelement (12), preferably in parallel, are provided between the discharge side (13) and theintroduction side (11) of the drum element (12). In particular a first recirculated air returnline (22) is or can be operated as a production recirculated air return line duringproduction operation of the device (10), and in particular the second recirculated airreturn line (24) is or can be operated during non-production operation of the device (10),
preferably in or during a preheating phase of the device (10).
