Last month, our class took part in the Campus Poetry Contest held in our school. It was really a rewarding and memorable experience, which gave us a chance to strengthen our spirit of teamwork and discover the charm of Chinese language.
A week before the competition, our headmaster
announced that our school was going to organize a Campus Poetry Contest on “ Colorful School life” in the hall next Friday. Upon hearing the news, we were very excited and decided to participate in it.
After we were back to our classroom, we buried
ourselves in preparing for the competition. We had a class meeting to discuss what to write about our poem. We
communicated openly and shared our thoughts and opinions with each other. Meanwhile, some of my classmates set about writing.
Right after our poem was completed, we started to practice for the coming show. During the process, our teacher offered us great help. She not only polished our poem but also taught us the how to read the poem in rich emotion. As a result, our poem improved greatly. As the
competition was approaching, we felt more and more confident and couldn’t wait to the coming of it. Finally the big day came. The hall was full of excitement. When it was our turn, I, standing on the stage with my classmates, read our poem confidently and
emotionally. The audience cheered and praised us with their thumbs up.
In the end, our headmaster announced that our class won the first prize. We were not only proud of our
teamwork but also deeply impressed by the great help of our teacher.
Tired as were, we still benefited a lot. The experience was entirely new for us and we learned so much through the process. So precious and memorable was the experience that we would cherish it from the bottom of our heart forever.
