Description
The AT1511 includes bias circuits to drive up tothree external FETs. A control input to thedevice selects either one of two FETs asoperational using 0V gate switchingmethodology, the third FET is permanentlyactive. This feature is particularly used as anLNB polarisation switch. Also specific to LNBapplications is the enhanced 22kHz tonedetection and logic output feature which is usedto enable high and low band frequency switching.The detector has been specifically designed toreject inerference such as low frequency signalsand DiSEqCTM tone bursts - without the use ofadditional external components.
Drain current setting of the AT1511 is userselectable over the range 0 to 15mA, this isachieved with the addition of a single resistor.The series also offers the choice of FET drainvoltage, the AT1511 gives 2 volts.
These devices are unconditionally stable overthe full working temperature with the FETs inplace, subject to the inclusion of therecommended gate and drain capacitors. Theseensure RF stability and minimal injected noise.It is possible to use less than the devices fullcomplement of FET bias controls, unused drainand gate connections can be left open circuitwithout affecting operation of the remaining biascircuits.
In order to protect the external FETs the circuitshave been designed to ensure that, under anyconditions including power up/down transients,the gate drive from the bias circuits cannotexceed the range -3.5V to 1V. Furthermore if thenegative rail experiences a fault condition, suchas overload or short circuit, the drain supply tothe FETs will shut down avoiding excessivecurrent flow.
The AT1511 are available in SSOP20 for theminimum in device size. Device operatingtemperature is -40 to 70°C to suit a wide rangeof environmental conditions.
